Bread Break Fast

cooking is a stress buster. If done leisurely.
but to me, its a stress if some one else cooks.
as much concern on the quantity of oil, and never mind the taste of food.

(fry not possible with out oil) (taste not possible with out fry) (happy ending not possible with out taste) usually uttered while cooking.

never bothered about the taste of the food coz, scared of the complements of a tasty food.

complements:
increased consumption.
increase in purchase quantity.
increase in stress, so as to perform better for the next time.
obesity.
frequent change in size of attire.
loss on over all.

its difficult for the person who cooks for me as lot of constraints have to be met and after meeting all those constraints, most important is the ending. as every one wants it to be happy ending.

Here is one such recipe.
1. oil on frying pan.
2. chopped onion and capsicum.
3. white of eggs beaten with salt, pepper, coriander powder.
4. toasted bread.

it cant be added in the category of cooking but still it can...

happy ending as it was prepared by me and eaten by me.

Eid Mubarak

Eid Mubarak..
The day after the holy month of Ramadan..

Ramadan month was so special to me and here its why?

My office working hours was from 0700 - 1300. Its only my office timing and most of the companies in Kuwait had it from 0900 - 1500. So it happened for me to spend less hrs in the site. It was good that I dint spend much under the hot sun. :)

This is a food parcel from a mosque at Manqaf.

Its distributed in every evenings around 17:30 at all mosque during the Ramadan. There is variety in this food like chicken, mutton and fish. There are options that either you can take a parcel or you can have food there itself. Some take parcel and also have there. The problem for me in taking food there is that I have to share my plate with four other strangers. I took four of my people and I once had it there (maximum utilization) :).. Its a big plate with four cooked full chicken with out salt and chilly, soaked in rice. You will be served with curry in a hot box along with orange, dates, water, fruit juice and labaan.

Its a happy month for all people in Kuwait. Its worth waiting for Ramadan...

Summer Season

woof fooo haa,,,,,
This pic I have taken from Mitsubishi Nativa. Temperature it shows 60. Min Max temperature ranges from 55 - 38.
This is how summer? is in Kuwait.
My vehice A/c sucks. All Nissan & Toyota Prado has good A/c in it.
Summer made pupil lazy and slowd down things.
Summer has also brought in major changes in work timings.
Some start early at 0300 - 1200, some at 0700 - 1500, some at 1700 to 0200.
All it depends on the nature of work like Open Site, Office, Workshop.

Summer... it some how affected pupil's day to day activities like, you cannot wash your hands during day time as water is so so SO HOT.... The horrible thing is, when you get a nature's call in the noon, you go mad at the end :) this is where toilet papers goes handy :) Hot water at times gives a burning sensation, you better forget washing your face for a while. If you missed your nature's call in the early morning then better not to make a call later. :)

Kuwaiti Marriage Hall

What this set up is? I see only Kuwaitis assembling and some camels tied to the post and things happens after 1900hrs with no public attractions. Whats happening here? This is what I asked to myself and to get an answer, I passed this and some information came out.

Its a Marriage hall. What?... Marriage hall?....! but i dont see single women........ As every one knows how marriages are held in India its time to know about how its in Kuwait. Okie coming to the location of this set up, its in AbuHalifa near Road No 30. Almost all these set up are at openspace (desert).

Here there are two marriage halls. Each hall has a dining room, wash room and a kitchen. you can see this on the sides with lamp post focussed on the centrewith sofas. All rooms are air conditioned.

Pics taken when the hall is empty, All the chairs and sofas looks rich but really its not. Closer views will bring you the actual. It looks rich at the first sight with the curtains, hanging lamps, bright colours and people wearing white dress with native Arab perfume... the hall looks appealing.

Chairs for the VVIPs

Liquors are prohibited so its obvious you will not be served with it. What you can have is camel biriyani, juice, water and complimentary is smoking. Public smoking is also prohibited. Only gents are allowed no idea about the other. This is how marriage celebrations at Kuwait.

Whats there to enjoy with this ball room effect with out added spices....?

Expats Opinion

Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it! Kuwait is also not different. The opening line of an article made me read it. The article is a promotion of a book written by a French woman Samah Oueslati titled “Why did I choose Kuwait..." I dint read that book as I have to pay for it but I read the comments for the article and I thought of posting it. Comments are both positive and negative some are bit rude. Its all about individuals, either like are dislike. Do read the comments and get some ideas.

Jogging

Jogging - People does it for fitness. But I...

I spend my evening at the track near by my camp. Its the only entertainment I have till date in Kuwait. Its always been a pleasure to jog in that track. I see new things every moment. I hear Arabi, Filipino, Malayalam, Hindhi, Urudu, Bengali, Telugu, kannada and some do speak Tamil and rarely people speaking English. I mostly see aged people of more than 30 years of age and 1 r 2 young ladies and few couples with their kids.

pic taken in winter season

In evenings, even after 1700 hrs it feels like being near a hot oven, that much of heat radiation is there from the desert sand. I never felt the flow of air along side. Only thing which I could see are the buildings on one side and the desert on the other side.

Satellite Pic of Abu Halifa Walking Street. Right side Buildings, Left side Desert.

Even in this environment I feel happy as I jog. The reason is the perfume that the joggers use. When I cross them, I feel the fragrance of some people whom I could remember. Some fragrance remembers me my brother and some fragrance remembers me my cousins. I get a feel that they are with me, walking by my side, crossing me, smiling at me, speaking to some one else, making new friends. I forget all the sorrows and feel better and get a confidence to face THE DAY NEXT with courage and with this feel I spend the evening hrs with the fragrance in my nose, monologues in my heart and joyful tears in my eyes.
Happy Evening...........................

Motta Rice

I bought 10 Kg rice bag yesterday and drived home happily as I bought it in a good deal for 2.5 KD. Today morning I switched on the electric cooker and started my routine. I was happy that am going to have home made food for lunch for the first time and with that happiness I finished of things and came with the lunch box cleaned to pack up. To my surprise I found some thing went wrong in cooking procedure. I was frightened for a while on looking at the cooked rice. It was much much bigger like a house fly. Later I checked the rice bag and found out that I bought Kerala rice (Motta). Now donno what to do....? Every time I look at it, its scaring me....  With great difficulty I ate it with Butter Milk.

There are two basic types of rice available in Kuwait, Basmathi (Bariq) & Motta. Motta rice looks like ration rice.. like butter beans... Have to check carefully before buying.

Connectivity

One might have heard of net calls from their relations living in foreign, as I also heard from my uncle who is in Dubai. Whenever he contacts us over phone, we will be able to speak with some difficulty as there will be no proper connectivity. There will be a delay in relay of speech and we will have to repeat the same a number of times and atlast we get tierd of foreign calls and neglect attending the call. I had a thought that its an ISD call and so it happens to be like that and I never asked him about this as I also had a thought that they spent lot to make a call and why to ask useless things and it remaind a mystery. The Mystery solved when I came to Kuwait and here is the snapshot of one such net calls application. I use this (1 leg call) to make calls to India. Call rates are cheaper as its 0.004 KD/ Min. For this u need a Wifi or a 3G connection. 3G packages in Zain network is cheapest and costs 5.000 KD/ Gb/ Month. If you speak on poor conectivity you will have the same experience as I had above. To make a local call in Kuwait it costs 0.050 KD/ Min. You have net call centres also where u can pay 0.010 KD/ Min to India and charges varies for different countries.

For further details about net call. follow the link http://1legcall.wordpress.com/

The Avenues

I have been to The Avenues in Fifth Ring Road. Its one of the largest shopping mall in Kuwait.

There is a cineplex in The Avenues.

Atrium 1

U get Arabs stuffs here. Other nationals dont get these stuffs they only window shop.
I was tierd of shopping and found a place to sit, and was looking around The Mall. As my imaginations grew wilder & the richness of The Mall, took me to The Pandora :). Then some thing distracted me and I felt like I added some weight on my back and turn around immediately and found a Kuwaiti lady leaning on my back. I stood and hurried in search of the other place to sit, I was embrassed a bit and I found one and  rested there. There also came two kuwaiti ladys and sat comfortably close to me. Then I realised these ppl doesnt have courtesy and I sat with them for a while gazing at their kajal work, smelling their perfume, listening to their conversation and I get noticed by ppl around me.

Accidents in Kuwait

Accidents are frequent in Kuwait. Many are fatal. The vehicles remain abandoned road side for months. Kuwait has six ring roads and are of four lane with parking roads on both the sides. Maximum speed limit is 120 Km/Hr but many wroom the road at their vehicle max.... Toyota, GMC, Porsche, Dodge, Mitsubishi are maximum. Audi & BMW are less. Mostly American brands.

Roads in Kuwait

This car hit on the median lamp post in the early hrs of the morning. I saw the lamp post with nil damage and this car as it looks now. The front wheels were thrown 50 mtrs. This would have wroomed at its max speed. Infiniti...

Vehicles in Kuwait are of left hand driving (opposite in India). For foreigners to get a driving license they have to meet certain criteria. Here are two criteria that I came to know.
1) If you are on 20 no visa - you are eligible only if you have a valid driving license from your home country,
2) If you are on 18 no visa either you should have a valid driving license from your home country or a degree holder with a minimum pay of 400 KD.

Zoo in KOC

It was an afternoon when I stopped after lunch for stroll at KOC residential. My driver told me there is a zoo at KOC, I was surprised. There were Goats, Deer, Camel, Peacock, Monkey. Wat ab the Lions and Tiger? I asked. He told me then "here they grow and they slaughter these after it grown" Its a poultry like.

So they dont eat lions and tiger and hence you cant see those here. Atleast these ppl spares the lives of lion n tiger. :).
